La Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina (ELAM), fundada por el líder de la Revolución cubana Fidel Castro Ruz el 15 de noviembre de 1999, desarrolla un Encuentro de egresados de esa institución y Ciencias de la Salud.
El Gobierno de Cuba les ofrece a los países un número determinado de becas cada año para que sean sus instituciones quienes seleccionen a los estudiantes y sean enviados a nuestro país.
En Bolivia cada vez hay más acceso a la salud. la actual Ministra de Salud de Bolivia, es graduada de la ELAM en el 2011 y mucho tiene que ver en estos cambios.
Hoy continúan más jovenes de ese país preparándose en Cuba, algunos han visto nacer sus hijos aquí.
