The movie El Mayor, the most recent production of the ICAIC is ready for its premiere in national cinemas from the 25th of this month.
Benigno Iglesias, ICAIC Vice President of Programming, informed the press today that the premiere of the long-awaited feature film, which pays tribute to the Cuban patriot Ignacio Agramonte, will be on the 24th, coinciding with the official delivery of the 2020 National Film Award on the date of 61st anniversary of the founding of ICAIC.
According to Iglesias, the usual tour of the film through the movie theaters in the country will begin on March 25, with special actions in the province of Camagüey, hometown of Agramonte and where the shooting took place.
Rigoberto López, with a work recognized in documentary and fiction creation, and founder of the Traveling Caribbean Film Show, devoted the last moments of his life to the conclusion of El Mayor, a project whose postproduction advised in his absence the experienced Angel Alderete, who was in charge of the photography direction.
At the meeting, which took place at the Fresa y Chocolate Cinematographic Cultural Center, in this capital, the ICAIC Vice President of Programming highlighted several of the actions that the Institute will develop during this month to celebrate its 61 years of creation, including the reopening of Your screen printing workshop.
After some years closed due to lack of materials, he said, the center will reopen its doors on March 20 at nine in the morning with new equipment and under the name of Eduardo Muñoz Bachs, a key figure in the history of the institution, located in Almendares street between Desagüe and Benjumeda.
He highlighted how very important that work is being carried out on the housing of the renowned Cuban intellectual Alfredo Guevara (1925-2013), to install there the permanent headquarters of the Cinemateca de Cuba, an institution that this year reaches its six decades of foundation.
