A terrible week for President Macri, and apparently he has the worst ahead. Last Sunday he suffered a resounding electoral defeat that, for many, has already put the suitcases in the back doors of the Casa Rosada, then, a series of measures of popular benefit, in which many Argentines smell hypocrisy, why now and not before? many wonder, and just a few hours ago, his finance minister resigned, with compliments and infinite thanks, but got off the ship. It is true that manipulation can work wonders, and that reasoning and emotional state that occurs in each individual before placing their vote is very complex and can bring surprises, but Macri’s luck seems, I repeat, seems to be cast.
The president’s calculation was simple: he lost by very few points in the primaries, and in time he would go back in October, and in the second round he would be victorious. But, in the midst of a terrible economic crisis, what led Macri to get these ideas? In his campaign he promised zero poverty and in the last year alone there were more than 2 million new poor, moreover, today half of the Argentine children suffer this scourge. He promised to lower inflation and has raised it to almost 50 percent, they were not going to ask for loans from the IMF and not only did it, but that country that he assumed totally indebted, today has a debt equivalent to 95 percent of the Gross Domestic Product . He said that the worst was over, and today millions of people in that country have to do magic to survive. The personal stories and testimonies about the day-to-day life of the Argentines, who these days collects the same press that praised Macri so much, is dramatic. What did he expect then? Is it from those presidents who assume that the people are stupid?This whole situation forces us to look to the immediate future, and in that scenario, the analysis of what has happened on the opposite side cannot be lacking. That broad and unfortunately dispersed force that is Peronism has proven, again, what unity can achieve, hopefully it is a lesson learned and apprehended with H. It has been an intelligent campaign, ready in its steps, and in which the figure of former President Cristina Fernández has been fundamental; This success and the next, owe much to the current senator and candidate for vice president, why? Because he rebuilt alliances, created broken bridges, and decided to place himself in the right place of this battle; at the time we said it here, when going as an aspiring vice he opened the way to reconciliation, but better still, he took Macri off his favorite target and in case of suffering a fate similar to Lula’s, he would not leave the headless campaign, Otherwise, it would be an inspiration for voters.Can you dream of the return of the left to Argentina? Yes, for many it is already a fact, but it will be necessary to shield that unity achieved so that it does not break when it is already in power, and it is necessary to neutralize the possible emergence of traitors and renegades who do a lot of damage and of which we have experiences bad and recent in Latin America.
