Russia and Bolivia sign agreements on economic and political matters

Both sides agreed on arrangements for collaboration for the industrialization of lithium, nuclear energy, in security aspects, energy cooperation and among academies of foreign relations, in a ceremony in the Kremlin.

Putin said that the gas giant Gazprom invested some 500 million dollars in the Bolivian energy sector, while a reactor for a nuclear research center is finished and a joint venture for the production of fertilizers is running.

In addition, the Russian leader referred to the participation of his country in infrastructure projects such as the construction of an air node on the basis of the international airport of the city of Santa Cruz and the railroad from the Atlantic to the Pacific, through the territory Bolivian.

Putin also referred to the cooperation of his country and Bolivia in matters of veterinary medicine and agriculture, a field that he considered to have great potential for bilateral cooperation and stressed the presence of Russian means of transport in the Andean country.

He also referred to the opening of a chair of Russian at the Bolivian University of San Andrés and congratulated his counterpart for the title he received as a doctor from the Russian University of Friendship with the Peoples (RUDN).

At the same time, Putin ratified the position of both states against interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela.The visiting president indicated that in the last six years, Bolivia led the rates of economic growth in South America. When intervening before in the RUDN, Morales said that when he came to power 13 years ago, the poverty rate comprised 38.2 percent of the population, while now it was reduced to less than 15 points. The governor said that in the same period the oil rent went from three billion dollars to 37 billion today, while spending on public investment increased from 629 million of the US currency to eight billion, at this time. For his part, Morales stressed the importance of relations with Russia, not only for Bolivia, but for all of Latin America, because it is a country that leads the fight for a multipolar world, the sovereignty of the states and respect for the international right.
