The presidents of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and of Spain, Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, attend this Friday in Havana the forum of the binational Business Committee that takes place in the new Iberostar Packard hotel, in the meadow of Havana.
In the forum of the Cuba-Spain Business Committee, 250 Spanish entrepreneurs involved in sectors such as tourism, health, agriculture and renewable energy, and their Cuban counterparts.
Among the attendees is also the vice president of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas.
As part of the business forum, Iberostar Packard will develop sectoral panels on tourism, infrastructure and investments and renewable energies. The representatives of Cuban and Spanish companies will hold bilateral contacts, and two agreements will be signed as part of the program of renegotiation of Cuba’s debt with Spain, according to reports. During the first day, Sánchez met with his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and highlighted the “privileged place that Latin America occupies, and particularly Cuba, in the Spanish foreign action”, underlines La Moncloa. Sánchez also informed Díaz-Canel of the Spanish Government’s desire to actively accompany Cuba in the process of updating its economic and social model, and reiterated “the commitment of Spanish cooperation with Cuba,” the statement added. Both statesmen signed two memoranda of understanding to establish a mechanism of political consultations and a second on cultural cooperation, says the note of the Spanish government. According to the official note, Sánchez, also leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party, ratified Diaz-Canel’s support for Madrid in the relationship between Havana and the European Union. For La Moncloa, Sanchez’s trip to Havana is “characterized by having an important economic-business dimension, since Spain is the third commercial partner and the country with the largest number of companies on the island, about 200”.
