Díaz-Canel: two new schools for children with severe disabilities

The government of Cuba will soon open two new schools in the center and east of the country for children with severe disabilities, announced Wednesday the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel.

The opening of these educational centers responds to the request of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raúl Castro, to extend the experience of the Solidarity with Panama school, located in the capital, according to a message of the president in the social network Twitter.

Díaz-Canel accompanies his publication with a tweet from Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodríguez about the presentation on Wednesday of the Greater Antilles before the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, an independent body linked to the United Nations that oversees the issue.

In the social network itself, the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, stressed that in Cuba the protection of these people is an obligation of the State, society and families.

The presentation of this report will be an opportunity for Cuba to present before the Committee its undeniable achievements and experiences in the field of promotion and protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, which have been possible thanks to the political will of the Cuban State and Government. The overwhelming majority support of the people, and the active participation of people with disabilities and their organizations.
